Name of club:     Best Buddies             

 

Faculty Sponsors:      Ms. Laurie Barnes

 

Purpose of club:      Building friendship between diverse groups of students.

 

Who can join?      Students are required to get a teacher recommendation to join the club.

 

Dues:          No dues at this time.

 

When, where, and how often does the club meet?     The club meets once per month and has occasional social gatherings.

 

Who should I contact about joining?   Talk with Ms. Barnes, or Lauren Howell, or Angela Depto.

 

Name of club:     Key Club          

 

Faculty Sponsors:      Mr. Hortert and Mrs. Steward

 

Purpose of club:      Key Club is an international service organization that strives to help students learn leadership skills and encourages community service.

 

Who can join?      Students must have a good discipline record, a 2.5 gpa for at least one term of the previous school year, and maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative gpa. Essay and 2 teacher recommendations also required.

 

Dues:          Dues for the club are $11 per year and students are expected to raise money through the year for various causes such as the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.

 

When, where, and how often does the club meet?     The club meets every other Monday, immediately after school in the choral room.

 

Who should I contact about joining?   Talk with one of the faculty advisors or contact President Dan Dunning.

 

Name of club:     Envirothon                

 

Faculty Sponsors:      Mrs. Pickett

 

Purpose of club:      To form teams of 5-6 students and prepare for the district competition. The competitions test your knowledge of: aquatics, forestry, wildlife, soils, and a 5th issue. Also, some school projects include paper recycling, newspaper recycling, and adopt-a-highway.

 

Who can join?      Any student who is interested.

 

Dues:          none.

 

When, where, and how often does the club meet?     The club meets after school once per week in room D-3.

 

Who should I contact about joining?   Talk with Mrs. Pickett in D-3.

 

 

Name of club:     Spanish Club             

 

Faculty Sponsors:      Mrs. Sara Robinson

 

Purpose of club:      To expose students to Latin culture through trips, meetings, and community events.

 

Who can join?      Students who are enrolled in Spanish.

 

Dues:       $10

 

When, where, and how often does the club meet?   The club meets once per month in D-1 immediately after school.

 

Who should I contact about joining?   Mrs. Sara Robinson in room D-1.

 

Name of club:     Tri-M

 

Faculty Sponsors:      Mrs. Sabra Steward or Mr. Mike Hughes

 

Purpose of club:      Music Honors

 

Who can join?      Music students with a 3.0 gpa or higher.

 

Dues:       $10

 

When, where, and how often does the club meet?     The club meets periodically after school in the band choral area of A-Building.

 

Who should I contact about joining?   Talk with Mrs. Sabra Steward or Mr. Mike Hughes.

 

 

Name of club:     Fellowship of Christian Athletes

 

Faculty Sponsors:      Mrs. Linda Blackman

 

Purpose of club:      Building fellowship between diverse individuals in a spiritual environment.

 

Students should contact Mrs. Blackman in the Media Center regarding specifics about joining the club.

Name of club:     SADD (Students against drunk drivers)

 

Faculty Sponsors:      Mrs. Nancy Baumgartner

 

Purpose of club:      Develop awareness about the consequences of poor decision making as it relates to driving while impaired.

 

Students should contact Mrs. Nancy Baumgartner in the nurses office or talk to Deputy Robinson regarding specifics about joining the club.

 

Name of club:               Chess Club

 

 

Faculty Sponsor:  Mr. Sanford

 

Purpose of club:   Improve personal chess game playing, stress team play, assist newer players, and enjoy the game itself:
