Dorchester County Public Schools 2013
Professional Development School
North Dorchester High School has had a long standing relationship with Salisbury University. Since the Fall of 2010 North Dorchester High School has been named a Professional Development School (PDS), working with Salisbury University to improve student performance through research-based teaching and learning utilizing a co-teaching model. Over the past two years we have expanded our partnership to host interns in a variety of content areas. Our partnership will reflect activities and approaches to improving both teacher education and North Dorchester High School. For more information about Salisbury University Clinical Field Experiences, visit their website.

Peace Team
Mid Shore Community Mediation Center works closely with area public schools to provide conflict resolution services and education directly to students and staff.
North Dorchester High School has been a hub of activity cleaning, classrooms, crafting student schedules, and preparing for opening day next month. Last year we launched an incredibly impactful attendance initiative Commitment 180- All Day, Every Day. Learners and families were challenged to commit to attending school all day, every day for 180 days. The results were staggering! Academic achievement increased significantly across the school. ND had a sharp decline in the number of students in need of summer school credit recovery coursework. Disciplinary infractions decreased. More than 30 learners met the challenge. They attended school every day, all day! These learners and their families will be  honored on August 13th at the East New Market Fire Hall at a special recognition banquet.
