National Honor Society

National Honor Society Qualifications

Membership is granted to those students selected by the Faculty Council on the condition of their having met the standards for selection established at the local level based on the provisions of the national constitution. The Faculty Council selects students who demonstrate outstanding performance in all four criteria of NHS- scholarship, leadership, service, and character.  Students will be first considered for membership/induction into the National Honor Society in their junior year and must have been enrolled in their present school for one full semester.  Students must have a 3.8 cumulative grade point average  on a weighted 4.0 scale as well as an exemplary attendance  record and discipline record.

National Honor Society Induction Ceremony

     North Dorchester High School’s National Honor Society held an induction ceremony to welcome its new inductees on Thursday, December 11, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. in the North Dorchester High School auditorium.  Membership is granted to those students selected by the Faculty Council on the condition of their having met the standards for selection established at the local level based on the provisions of the national constitution. The Faculty Council selects students who demonstrate outstanding performance in all four criteria of National Honor Society- scholarship, leadership, service, and character.  Students will be first considered for membership/induction into the National Honor Society in their junior year and must have been enrolled in their present school for one full semester.  Students must have a 3.8 cumulative grade point average on a weighted 4.0 scale, as well as an exemplary attendance record and discipline record.
     At the ceremony, current and new members were reminded of the elements of the National Honor Society, including scholarship, service, leadership, and character by current senior members Justine Durham, Ashley Payne, Rachel Cox, and Kari Harper. Dean of Students Lou Jones  delivered a speech reminding all members that they all have the ability to do something great with their lives if they just try to be the best they can be and never give up on their hopes and dreams.
     The newest members of the National Honor Society are Briana Beulah, Zachary Blanchfield, Carlie Budd, Eric Conrad, Christopher Dixon, Stephanie Durham, Garvin Gounraj, Nicole Harding, Spencer Horseman, Erin Hubbard, Lacey Letmate, Chelsea Mills, Ciara Molock, Tiara Molock, Rachele Norfolk, Lauren Olivia Phillips, Brandon Ralph, Brianna Reid, Emily Short, MaryJo Short, Jordan Sturgis, and Tony Trang.  North Dorchester High School has a total of  46 members.  This is quite an accomplishment considering that there are 242 total juniors and seniors who are enrolled in the school.
     NDHS Honor Society Advisor Stephen Willey comments, “Our members exemplify academic and humanistic excellence to their school and community through service activities that include: tutoring, school sponsored Blood Drive for the Delmarva Blood Bank, Relay For Life, and participation in the Pat Hopkin’s Scholarship Fund Walkathon.”
